Carmen is currently teaching a survey of the arts class for early admit students at Kihei Charter School and beginning in Fall of 2012, she will be teaching this popular course at the UH Maui campus.
2007-Present-- Art Instructor Maui County, Honolulu, Mainland. Carmen teaches painting workshops ather Haiku studio as well as a variety of venues across the state and on the mainland.
2007-Present Art Instructor County of Maui -- Kathy Ramos Program Coordinator, Kaunoa Campus
Teaches art to adults. Classes include beginning, intermediate and advanced watercolor; and oil painting. Carmen's classes are extremely popular with a wide range of students.

Headed up administration. Supervised operations and staff, managed office, led marketing and public relations efforts. Coordinated all aspects of retreats, weddings and other special events at the plantation.
1994- 2002 Executive Director: Maui Community Theatre/Maui OnStage

Main objective was to foster and perpetuate mission of performing arts organization. Directly responsible for all administration and office operations; public relations, group sales and season tickets; "front of house " operations including box office and concessions. Wrote, administered and implemented all grants. Worked with Board of Directors to ensure production of high-caliber Broadway-style shows and quality learning opportunities broad, multi-cultural spectrum; and to foster within the group art paradigm. Scheduled season of plays, hired/scheduled guest directors, technical personnel, and volunteers, directed mainstage plays, designed sets, costumes posters, etc.. Taught theatre arts workshops/classes. Developed and marketed programs, designed and produced brochures, posters, flyers, radio and television ads/PSA's, newspaper ads, tickets etc.. Scheduled and contracted use of theatre facility by user groups and individuals. Networked with other community organizations and developed other outreach programs such as at-risk youth programs. Hired and supervised administrative and artistic staff. Bookkeeping/extensive financial records keeping (Quicken) and prepared comprehensive reports, including annual agency operating budgets. Appropriated organization's finances per funding and annual budget. across a individual growth
1988-1994 Public Relations Specialist: University of Hawaii—Maui Community College, Kahului, Maui, Hawaii.
Worked directly with students, and Administration of college. Researched, designed, developed, wrote and produced, in coordination with project staff, all Educational Opportunity Center post-secondary and career information and materials for use by various media (print and electronic). Informed and motivated target groups and other adult learners to utilize project services by developing and implementing a plan to disseminate career and educational information. Developed strategies for establishing and maintaining contact with key community non-profits and educational groups and organizations. Coordinated outreach services, participated in community events and other activities. . Journalism Instructor, and lecturer for various VITEC/PACE classes. As counselor, worked closely with student groups and individuals. Mistress of Ceremonies for various community and college events, public speaker. Prepared and implemented comprehensive records and reports for federal government and in-house use Specialist in nontraditional degrees. Advisor to various campus groups (i.e. Board of Student Publications, Maui Peace Network, MCC TAG, etc.). Co-wrote federal grant applications for project fiscal year operating budgets.
1985-1988 Director of Programming and Operations: KAOI Communications, Inc./Maui Broadcasting, Inc., KAOI AM & FM Radio, Wailuku, Maui, Hawaii.
Administrative: Responsible for all programming, public relations, ratings and marketability of product: radio station. Reviewed and approved all music and other materials for airing. Worked closely with clients and sales and marketing staff implementing all phases of promotion, internally and externally. Supervised, hired, trained on-air staff. On Air: Represented and announced for KAOI at various public functions during off-hours and weekends. On-air announcer during the 2:00-7:00 PM "drive time" shift, Monday through Friday. Successfully raised ratings of station to number one in target demographic. As announcer, ranked number one in 12-54 age group, according to Marstadt 1988 spring survey.
